I was doing my usual weekend routine of trying to catch up on all the blogs I like to read, and read this post at Where There's a Will. Kelly wrote about a secret she has been keeping. Her secret is that she hopes that at least one of the soon to be born Pitt-Jolie twins has Down syndrome. Read this post, it is quite funny. Perhaps it will only be funny to those of you who actually have a kid with Down syndrome, but trust me you should read it.
The whole point of her post is that if someone as famous as them has a baby with Down syndrome, surly it would be put in a positive light. Kelly says "DS would be the 'it' cause, the syndrome-du-jour, and the topic of many headlines. And you know that Brangelina would skewer anyone with a negative vibe towards DS."
I have to admit that early on in Ella's infancy, and yes still do on occasion, I would have the woe is me moment, see a mom with 8 kids and wonder "why doesn't one of her kids have Down syndrome." Don't get me wrong I am fully aware of the amazing gift and blessing that Ella and her 47 chromosomes are, but every once in a while I fall back in to that mind set. But really how great would that be for some huge famous couple to have a baby with Down syndrome??? GREAT!!! I bet there would be some positive articles published in magazines and newspapers. I bet no one would be dwelling over what might be "wrong" with the baby. And, I bet that said famous star would not stand for negative talk. Wishful thinking.
Ella walked all the way across our living room tonight!! She has been standing up in the middle of the room taking a few steps and then falling, but never deterred! Tonight she did that a few times. Then she started at the couch and walked completely across the living room, stopping every once in awhile to steady herself and then continuing on. Once she reached the other side she dove into Hunter's beanbag Spiderman couch then came up with the biggest smile, her eyes wide. I can just imagine her saying "did you guys see that??" Of course I was crying my eyes out. What an amazing little girl she is!!! We cheered and clapped and yelled, it was great. The only thing is I wish is that she would give me a heads up when she is going to accomplish some really cool milestone so I could bust out the video camera!!
Because I have no new pics I will leave you with more from when I was extremely bored and braided her hair. And no, she would not sit still for me to do this to her, ha, she was fast asleep!
Ella's hair with volume : )

Yeah! Way to go Ella!
Yay Ella!! We knew it would be before her 2nd birthday!! I'm so proud of her!!!
PS I deleted the above post b/c I spelt a word incorrectly. :)
You are not alone... lots of mom's braid hair... hahaha
Yippee! She is going to being running around your house in no time. I had a wild dream that Riley just stood up in the middle of the living room and took off walking the other day. Crazy! But then again I've also had dreams where he was speaking in complete sentences too.
Alright little Missy!! We knew you could do it! Glad that beanbag couch could be there as she took her dramatic ending! Ha! Love-Love-Love the braids, they are just too cute and I predict the crimped look is going to make a comeback! Big kisses from all of us to all of you! Love, Aunt Tami and family
YAY ELLA!! I can't believe how grown-up she is getting! *sigh* Come back and visit!!
